EnDat 2.1 and 2.2: leading-edge in the machine tool, electronics, and automation industries
The EnDat story began in 1995 with the introduction of EnDat 2.1. This first EnDat version boasted the following features right from the get-go:
- Automatic system installation
- Electronic ID label
- OEM memory
- Datum shift
- Alarms and warnings
The introduction of EnDat 2.2 in 2003 was marked by the transition to purely serial data transmission and a strong focus on continuity with the previous version. The communication, command sets, and timing conditions of EnDat 2.2 are therefore downward compatible with EnDat 2.1.
The Implementation Guide provides an overview of which documents and their content are intended for which readers, as well as the available implementation aids.
